Red’s Diner – Nom Nom Nom
I’ve driven by Red’s Diner for quite some time now, it’s right on the corner of 4th Street and 15th Avenue SW. I had the chance to give it a try today for lunch. I went with a good friend of mine from University at around 1pm. There were a couple tables available so obviously it looks like they do get busy for lunch. The atmosphere of Red’s is a cool diner feel with a breakfast style counter/bar feeling. Even though a small place, it is very spacious and inviting. I’m not sure if it’s a secret but I feel like I found some secret free parking for Red’s Diners customers across the street on 15th Ave behind the old Rose and Crown.
I’ve heard very good things about Red’s and was excited to try. They have a split menu of breakfast and lunch (served after 11am), menu has lots of tasty looking choices but I could only pick one today. I opted for the Short Rib Hash ($13.99) today with eggs over easy and multigrain toast. It was very good with some sort of gravy in between the short ribs and eggs, the best part was breaking the egg and letting the yolk ooze over the short ribs, Mmmmm. My friend had the Southwest Egg White Omelette ($11.99) with a Fruit cup ($2.99), normally this dish would come with hash browns and toast but she decided to skip that. She really enjoys Red’s and always loves the food. It’s simple yet done well. I can’t wait to head back to try the Prairie Platter, 2 Eggs your way with Homemade Potato Cheddar Perogies, Rocky’s Kielbasa, and Sour Cream, now that sounds awesome.
