By now everyone has heard of Charcut Roast House. The restaurant has become famous for selling gourmet burgers out of the back alley for $5. Chef and part-owner Connie DeSousa has been confirmed as a contestant on Top Chef Canada and the restaurant has been named one of Canada’s Top 10 Best New Restaurants. So when we went for dinner on Tuesday night we weren’t disappointed. We were amazed.
The service from walking in the front door right until the end was excellent, I even watch other tables being served upon and it was all consistent. Our waitress did a superb job of explaining each and everything we ate, she made sure our drinks were well tended to and was always there when we needed her. The food was outstanding, you can tell the attention to detail they put into the food to ensure that the best of the best comes out of the kitchen every time.
The atmosphere is very inviting, at first we thought, what are we suppose to wear, is it dressy, business casual, is it going to be stuffy? They made this restaurant for Calgarians looking for a unique and great dining experience. To sum it all up, we will be back!
We started with the in-house made Chorizo Sausage that came with a roasted pepper and melted cheese and brioche buns
We also ordered the Bone Marrow au Gratin. Escargot baked in bone marrow with cheese.
And we also had the Charcut Board. A platter featuring four different in-house made sausages and cuts of meat. The Pig Head Mortadella, Spicy Coppa Sausage, Pork Croquettes, and Italian Sausage.
Luckily there were four of us to tie into these delectable appetizers.
For dinner we all ordered different entrees.
There was the Spit Roasted Spring Creek Prime Rib.
The Arugula & Tuna Conserva
The Slow Roasted Heritage Chicken
And the Steak with Chimichurri sauce.
The entrees were a la carte, so we ordered 3 sides for the table to share. There was the Duck Fat Fried Poutine, the Grilled Broccolini, and the Roasted Potato’s.
Needless to say by the time we were done dinner we were full, but that didn’t stop us from having dessert. Creme brulee, fresh baked cookies, bison milk cheesecake, and a flourless chocolate treat. Purely AMAZING!!!
If you’re looking a place that serve’s comfort food with a fresh spin on it, Charcut is definitely worth checking out. You won’t be disappointed.
