Redwater Rustic Grille – Bow Valley Square

Redwater Grille has always been  a great place to go.  It’s somewhere I can go that I know I’ll get good food and service every time.  I’ve never had a bad meal here and I tend to try something different every time I go.  What’s great is sometimes at Costco you’ll see Redwater/Vintage Group come out with an excellent gift certificate deal which I seem to buy as Christmas gifts for friends.  Our wives have their favourite which is the Scallops and Shrimp with the Chili Garlic Sauce.  It’s nice that most of the main’s you can change up the flavours with the different sauces you can top it with.  Fuzzy had the Chicken Pappardelle and I went with the Chef’s creation of the Lamb with Chimichurri sauce.  All our food were delicious and I always look forward to a Redwater Grille night. Any by the way, the best part of it all, you can reserve and online.  ...

Home Tasting Room – the missing review

Oops just realized I didn’t write up my review on this Stephen Avenue restaurant. Home Tasting Room seems to get a lot of talk around the foodie forums so when it came to The Big Taste, we decided to give it a try for lunch. They had a set menu for this event which was a mixed greens salad, chicken pot pie and for dessert a warm pretzel with warm apple cider. Overall the flavours of the food were good, my step father said his chicken sandwich was very good, my wife’s shrimp salad was on the salty side, we did wish the pretzel would have been soft and moist but it was more on the chewy overcooked side, but if you dipped it in the apple cider it made it all good. One day we would like to make it over there for supper and the regular menu to give a true review of this well talked about restaurant. OMG I need to facebook and tweet about this and can’t stop thinking about it Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Overall: 5/5 Additional Comments: Everything that can be made in house is Outstanding Service Very relaxing atmosphere Great attention to detail Ingredients are as local as possible Chef Connie De Sousa has been announced as a contestant on Top Chef Canada By now everyone has heard of Charcut Roast House. The restaurant has become famous for selling gourmet burgers out of the back alley for $5. Chef and part-owner Connie DeSousa has been confirmed as a contestant on Top Chef Canada and the restaurant has been named one of Canada’s Top 10 Best New Restaurants. So when we went for dinner on Tuesday night we weren’t disappointed.  We were amazed. The service from walking in the front door right until the end was excellent, I even watch other tables being served upon and it was all consistent.  Our waitress did a superb job of explaining each and everything we ate, she made sure our drinks were well tended to and was always there when we needed her.  The food was outstanding, you can tell the attention to detail they put into the food to ensure that the best of the best comes out of the kitchen every time. The atmosphere is very inviting, at first we thought, what are we suppose to wear, is it dressy, business casual, is it going to be stuffy?  They made this restaurant for Calgarians looking for a unique and great dining experience.  To sum it all up, we will be back! We started with the in-house made Chorizo Sausage that came with a roasted pepper and melted cheese and brioche buns We also ordered the Bone Marrow au Gratin. Escargot baked in bone marrow with cheese. And we also had the Charcut Board. A platter featuring four different in-house made sausages and cuts of meat. The Pig Head Mortadella, Spicy Coppa Sausage, Pork Croquettes, and Italian Sausage. Luckily there were four of us to tie into these delectable appetizers. For dinner we all ordered different entrees. There was the Spit Roasted Spring Creek Prime Rib. The Arugula & Tuna Conserva The Slow Roasted Heritage Chicken And the...
