Cancun – Excellence Playa Mujeres Day 1 – Live Blog
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do this, but we’ll give the semi-live blog a try. This is my first resort vacation and we are down here with Fuzzy and his wife plus another couple. The reviews on this place are amazing so you can imagine our excitement since we booked in October. I didn’t think this day would come. Check out the reviews here: Excellence Playa Mujeres
This place is rather amazing and it’s mainly all a-la-carte, 9 or 10 restaurants, no reservations needed and can’t wait to try most of them. First here are a couple pics of this place, first one is where I am lying typing this blog post and the others are pictures from the balcony.
First meal last night was teppanyaki at the Spice, entertainment was better than Japanese Village in Calgary, food was delicious and there was no small portions tonight. The fried rice was outstanding, sorry mom it was better than yours. My picture of the tempura fried ice cream covered in chocolate didn’t turn out but it was amazing.
This morning woke up, went to the Executive Club lounge for coffee and ended up with a Bloody Mary! After we had buffet breakfast, it was ok, we may do more a-la-carte breakfast’s more often. The omelette station is really good though. I didn’t take pics of breakfast, but it was hosted in the Italian restaurant, called Toscana, nice room and great mimosa’s!
For lunch we ate beach/oceanside at The Grill, Tilapia Ceviche was so good, followed it with some calamari, fish tacos (grouper) which were delicious, and suckling pig tacos (not so good).
I can’t forget about our mid day snack, the most talked about food item on the resort, Pizza by the Sol Bar. We had the Mexican and Meat Lovers, so good, so fresh and such a great snack. You may say it doesn’t look as good as I say but it is. I said the same thing looking at pics of it too before I came.
Well that’s it for today, tonight we head to the lobster house and the Madonna show….
