Bistro 2210 – A Little Eatery on 4th Street
Bistro 2210 – A Little Eatery on 4th Street. Don’t let the Size Fool You.
Mission has another little gem, none other than Bistro 2210. A small, simple and contemporary decor welcomes you upon entering. A perfect setting for a casual dinner with friends or a special night out. A bistro that prides itself on serving French comfort food; need I say more? Oui! Oui!
After hearing and reading so much about 2210, I thought it was the perfect choice for my next dinner dine out.
Let’s begin with the ‘starters’; appropriate non? I don’t think I could ever pass up Moules Frites; simply known as mussels and fries. For me, it is the ultimate French and Belgian bistro food; at its very best. One day, I will travel the world in search of the top ten restaurants that create this dish. Bistro 2210 did not disappoint. It was a tough decision to choose between two broth options. The Thai Curry, consisting of coconut milk, leek, grated carrot; or the Provencal with garlic, tomato, vin blanc. After a mental flip of the coin, along came the Provencal. The freshly baked bread never stood a chance before being grabbed to schlep the beautiful broth. The mussels were opened to perfection and plentiful. The accompanying fries also joined in the broth schlepping. All in all, a beautiful experience.
My guest enjoyed starting with the Grilled Romaine Salad. The presentation was lovely and the garlic dressing was very flavorful.
Moving on to the main course. The special was Tenderloin with a Lamb Ravioli Garnish. Ladies and gents, oh yes, I did just say “Lamb Ravioli Garnish”! The flavor combination was brilliant! The quality – outstanding. The other main course ordered was the oh so lovely Braised Lamb Farfalle. A tender and mild lamb shoulder; with olives, capers, tomatoes, arugula and parmesan. For all the foodies out there; food for the soul. Muah!
We capped off the meal with with a classic and staple dessert; Vanilla Crème Brûlée. Simple and delicate… burnt cream never tasted so good.
Bistro 2210 also delivered with an extensive French wine list. The world is a far more beautiful place with a solid glass of wine in hand. Amen.
A wonderful dinner had by all. If you have a chance, drop by Bistro 2210 for a wonderful food experience. The service is warm and the ambience delightful. This time around I reluctantly passed on the duck confit poutine. Choices, choices, choices… I never forget a poutine… especially one with duck confit. I shall return!
Bon appetit!
