Austin’s Bar & Grill $6.95 Steak Sandwich

I finally decided to review this place I go for lunch to all the time as it’s next door to my office. Austin’s Bar & Grill in Canyon Meadows SW used to be one of the biggest dives I’ve been to in a long time. Earlier this year they completed a total renovations and it actually looks really nice now, with lots tons of flat screens showing lots of different sports, great place to watch a game. They have a tucked away VLT room unlike before when it was among the whole bar. Bathrooms are clean and renovated too. The staff are generally very nice and service is good too.

Their claim to fame has to be their cheap cheap cheap Steak Sandwich. Only $6.95, you get a good sized steak (cooked to your liking), fries, 1/2 garlic loaf, and a bit of coleslaw. Obviously for $6.95 you don’t get premium meat, but honestly for lunch or quick supper, how can you complain. The steak is seasoned so there is good flavor and if you love HP sauce like me, this steak is perfect for it. You can make changes to salad or other types of potato’s but you’ll pay a substitution fee $1.95.

I know there are billions of wings in Calgary and everyone has their favorites. One of my favorite wing is at Austin’s. Their Hot and Crispy wings are just perfect. It’s deep fried, tossed in Frank’s Hot Sauce, then baked in the Oven until the sauce has cooked into the wing. I must say, what a great way to make a wing! Monday and Thursday nights is their 25 Cent wing night. You have to check out the way they make these Hot and Crispy’s.
