Anju Restaurant

We’ve been following Anju’s tweets for quite some time, some of our friends insisted we try Anju which we’ve been meaning to for quite some time.  On Wednesday we finally got our chance celebrating my wife’s birthday for supper.  They do take reservations, just give them a call and I’m sure they would be more than happy to help.  One really nice thing is that they are open late night, I think till 2am on the weekends.  Everyday they are opened at 5pm.  Anju is located on the edge of downtown at 507 10 Street SW.  There is plenty of street parking around and they have a big “Anju Now Open” sign on the front.

Anju’s concept is Korean-Inspired Small Plates, in another word, Korean Tapas.  The restaurant is really cool, great decor, nice atmosphere with funky beats pumping in the background.  Anju has 2 floors, we sat on the main right by the kitchen pass window, perfect seat.  They do have a really nice spot to sit which is at the front bay window.  The service is very good, attentive, quick to help with the menu, and excellent at explaining each dish as it comes to the table.

Looking at the menu online before coming in, my mouth was just watering, so I was extremely excited to try this place for the first time.  We started off with some drinks, they have some pretty cool concoctions, I drank Kimchi Caesars all night, so good!

For this review we tried so many different things and really I can’t wait to try more.  They were all outstanding dishes.  The Yam Fries are very popular breaded with rice flour and their sauce to die for.  The dishes we all agreed that stood above the rest were the Short Rib Rice Bowl (I would love to eat this daily), Black Cod (cooked to absolute perfection), Chicken Wings, and Pork Belly Siders (Which tastes like a different version of Peking Duck, Yummm).  We couldn’t stop eating the Roasted Seaweed w/Spicy Mustard Oil, if you like wasabi, you’ll love this.  You can’t go wrong with anything you order at Anju, it is one of my new favourite restaurants.  Just take these pictures below when you  head to Anju and say you want this.  You won’t be disappointed.
